Ethnoecology and Biodiversity Lab
The Ethnoecology and Biodiversity Lab serves as
a venue for collaboration between natural and social scientists,
locally and internationally, on research focusing on recognition,
allocation, and use of natural resources.
Southern Seed Legacy
The Southern Seed Legacy is an
initiative to educate people on the various projects being
undertaken to conserve the southern legacy of seeds and knowledge.
Southern Seed Legacy strives to reverse the plant erosion of genetic
diversity and cultural knowledge in the American South by
encouraging and supporting local seed saving exchange networks and
in situ conservation of plant genetic resources. They also
house a small seed collection that serves as a backup for crop
varieties that are in particular danger of going extinct and a
memory bank that documents the cultural history of many southern
heirloom varieties.
Agrarian
Connections
Agrarian Connections (AC) is a 320 acre farm
located in the Piedmont of Georgia dedicated to the preservation of
agrarian landscapes and lifeways. Its philosophy is that we learn
from the past to guide us in principles of sustainable living for
the future.

Georgia Anthropology Department
Anthropology
at the University of Georgia reflects the 21st century landscape of
this most human of disciplines. Ecology and environment are
emphasized in the study of human societies both past and present.
Common Ground Athens
Common Ground Athens is a community resource
center for groups and individuals working for progressive social
change. Through educational programs, shared resources, and
organizational support, Common Ground connects and strengthens local
organizations and residents in their work to improve our community
and world.
PLACE
PLACE promotes a strong accessible local food culture in the Athens, Georgia
area through educational programs, networking opportunities, and increased availability of locally grown food.
Athens Folk Music and Dance Society
The Athens Folk Music and Dance Society promotes traditional music, dance and art in Northeast Georgia.
